It is wonderful to be part of something that is orientated towards well-being, strength and fun. The qualities of the Kinected Strength community that stand out for me are a group that is supportive, warm and inspiring. I so appreciate the common ground which we all stand, held and directed by Briana, Jess and Andrea so beautifully. It’s so nice having the common goal of moving towards a stronger body with improved functional movement in a healthy way. Briana has taught me that “it’s about the minimal effective dose for my body.” And I’m so grateful to be learning this now, amongst others who are learning the same. Despite this minimal effective dose, I have never been stronger, my endurance never better, I have not hurt myself to get here, and I’m loving every step of the way! Three years ago, I had a stroke. At first, I needed to learn to walk again. Months later I got help with pain management and muscle tightness from a physiotherapist. That physiotherapist put me in touch with Jessica Pastro, a very experienced kinesiologist at Kinected Strength, as she felt that Jessica could help analyze and treat the movement and coordination on my affected side, right arm and leg, and improve my overall physical ability and health. For the last 2 years I have worked with Jessica once a week and the results have been remarkable. My movement and strength have almost reached pre-stroke levels. My core development was the starting point. This is the group of muscles that stabilizes and controls the pelvis and spine and influences the legs and upper body which I desperately needed help with. Over the years I have “Kinected” with the whole Kinected Team, Jessica, Briana and Andrea and think they are great. I have enjoyed working to get better with Jessica and look forward to working with her for years to come.
